Pixel Park
Situated at the intersection of two major bike roads in Copenhagen, Denmark, this project centers around the Dronning Louises Bro bridge corner, emphasizing the enhancement of existing green space. A dynamic, interactive raised seating area serves to activate the site, providing an inviting space for city residents. Notably, the seating area incorporates an innovative waste sorting solution. Below the raised seating area, a food and activities building, complete with public restrooms, caters to park-goers. To further encourage pedestrian traffic, the adjacent street was transformed into a dedicated walking and biking area, contributing to the city's pedestrian-centric planning. The intervention also includes waterfront access, allowing people to appreciate Copenhagen's lakes. With a keen focus on pedestrian experience, this project successfully transforms a heavily trafficked Copenhagen area into a versatile and engaging multi-use gathering space.

WASTE SORTING STRATEGIES
WASTE SORTING
IN URBAN FURNITURE
IN URBAN FURNITURE
To facilitate waste sorting for both Pixel Park visitors and nearby residents, the site will feature two integrated waste sorting stations within the urban seating. This initiative aims to optimize courtyard spaces for residents and aligns with Copenhagen's objective of enhancing recycling efficiency.
Concepts for Development
A PEOPLE FRIENDLY SITE
Prioritizing pedestrians and eliminating cars along the street enhances the site's connection with the adjacent shops, fostering a welcoming streetscape that encourages people to gather.
FLOW TO THE WATER
Presently, the site restricts access to the lakes. By reconfiguring the area and incorporating steps leading down to the water, individuals will now have direct access to engage with the lakefront.
CREATING COMFORT ZONES
Five zones cater to diverse activities: the canopy for year-round outdoor enjoyment, the activities building and field for on-site recreation, waterfront seating for lake engagement, and waste disposal for a clean park and local waste management.
LIGHT CANOPY
The welcoming ambiance of the light canopy ensures a sense of safety on the site, even after dark. Additionally, it extends outdoor seating possibilities for local restaurants, contributing to a lively street atmosphere.
